In August 2004, DZME merged with VOTY that paved the way for a youth advocacy program that allows young broadcast talents and youth advocates to focus the spotlight on the Filipino Youth’s achievements and productive involvement in the society.
The VISION of LKTKR (now Voice of the Youth sa Radyo VOTYR) is to become the center of POWER of the VOICE and ACTION of the Youth in Radio Broadcast. We are bringing AM Radio to the Filipino Youth as an alternative media of quality and useful information towards nation building.
The Segments: Voice Out! - This segment is the interactive talk and theme about current national and societal issues. Aside from promoting social awareness and critical thinking, it encourages the youth to voice out their opinions and to take a stand. Through our invited Speakers and Experts, we have tackled topics from youth volunteerism, empowerment, leadership and personality development. We bring to the Filipino Youth the issues that affect them as we motivate them to find their own advocacy and share it.
Bilib Kami Sa’yo! - VOTYR gives recognition to Youth Leaders and Achievers to inspire our fellow young people in discovering and utilizing their talents and realizing their purpose. From students, writers, and singers to political leaders – we are always on the search for these unsung young heroes that the present and future generations should look up to.
Join Ka Dito! - We give FREE airtime for different Organizations to promote their cause and activities where young people could get involved with. VOTY, thru VOTYR has also initiated several projects since the program launch. First is the youth talent and advocacy concert dubbed as “Kabataan Night” held at the Conspiracy Café in Quezon City where over a hundred individuals from over 20 organizations took part. In December 2004, LKTKR launched the first “TULUNGAN KABATAAN: HELP FOR HEALTH CAMPAIGN!” – a donation drive to support a medical mission of Philippine National Red Cross for the typhoon victims in Dingalan Quezon Province. LKTKR provides live on-site reports and coverage of VOTY activities from NCR, Ilocos Norte, Baguio City and Laguna. Most recent this February and most successful is the YOUTH POWER 2005 Conference and Expo at the World Trade Center where more than 6000 were empowered. This is youth media in action!
LKTKR is now known as Voice of the Youth Sa Radyo: (VOTYR) ITO ANG TINIG MO, a coming together of ideas, voices, resources and advocacies of the youth with the help of multimedia and technology (Internet, SMS and radio). The commitment goes on as long as there’s fire in the Youth - The major resources of VOTYR. As a co-production program, DZME provides FREE weekly one-hour airtime and use of studio in Quezon City. Proceeds from future Commercial Advertisements of VOTYR should go half to DZME and half to VOTY projects. Each episode is recorded, transcribed and posted at the blog and podcast in this website. VOTYR is to be aired as well in cyberspace soon. VOTYR has also inspired other youth leaders to produce a similar radio program. One of which is Tinig Kabataan to aired in Radyo ng Bayan, Tawi-tawi.
