The Chinese Government, through the All-China Youth Federation (ACYF) and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Manila, and in partnership with the National Youth Commission, is implementing the Philippine Youth Leaders’ Visit to China. With the theme “A Journey to Discover China”, the program aims to promote Chinese tourism and friendship among the young people of China and the Philippines. Activities will include site visits to Tian’anmen Square and National Museum of China, Workshops on Chinese Cooking and Calligraphy, and Youth Exchange with local students.
The program proper is scheduled on 5-12 September, 2017 in Beijing, Henan, and Shanghai China. NYC will be nominating 45 youth delegates.
Qualifications of Delegates:
  • Filipino citizen, single, 18-30 years old
  • Philippine passport holders (valid until April 13, 2018)
  • Mentally and physical fit to travel
  • Students (senior high school, vocational, college, masteral, or PhD students)
  • Working youth
  • Out-of-school youth leaders
  • Indigenous youth leaders
  • Fit to travel abroad
  • Can communicate in English
  • Be able to attend the pre-departure briefing (tentative date: September 3) at the NYC head office and the program proper on September 5-12, 2017
Requirements:
  • Accomplished NYC Application Form
  • An essay of not more than 1500 words answering the following questions: A) what are your expectations about the program? B) once accepted, what do you think can you contribute to the program? C) what are your plans after you return from the program?
  • FOR STUDENTS: Nomination letter from Dean or Principal
  • FOR WORKING YOUTH: Nomination letter from Supervisor
  • FOR OSY: Nomination letter from Barangay Captain
  • FOR INDIGENOUS YOUTH: Nomination letter from Barangay Captain
  • Copy of valid passport
Expenses:
  • Delegates will shoulder their travel expenses from their residence (province) to NAIA and back as well as their accommodation in Manila during the pre-departure briefing.
  • The organizer will shoulder the delegates’ international airfare (Manila-China-Manila) and travel tax/terminal fee as well as their food, accommodation and local transportation in China.
The following are automatically disqualified:
  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from July 31, 2012– present whose airfare, meals, and accommodation were paid by the organizer; and
  • Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from July 31, 2015 – present whose airfare was shouldered by the participants and whose accommodation and meals were paid by the organizer.
  • Previous NYC International Programs Beneficiaries who have not submitted or accomplished the required post-program documents or volunteer work.
