STILL ACCEPTING: 2019 Japanese Government Scholarship Programs

For those who want to study in Japan, the Embassy of Japan in the Philippines is still accepting scholarship applications for the 2019 Japanese Government Scholarship.

They are accepting scholarships for Research, Undergraduate, Specialized Training, and College of Technology.

Applicants must prepare for a document screening, written exam, and an interview. They are also highly encouraged to carefully read the requirements, guidelines, and prerequisites that are on the Japanese Embassy website.

The requirements for each category is as follows:
  • Research (Research Student, Master's or Doctoral Course)
    • Applicant must be a college graduate preferably with 16 years of formal education.
    • Applicant must have a feasible research proposal
    • Applicant must have good academic standing
    • Applicant must be below 35 years old
  • Undergraduate
    • Applicant must be a high school graduate
    • Applicant must have good academic standing
    • Applicant must be 17 to 24 years old
  • Specialized Training College
    • Applicant must be a high school graduate
    • Applicant must have good academic standing
    • Applicant must be 17 to 24 year old
  • College of Technology 
    • Applicant must be  a high school graduate
    • Applicant must have a good academic standing
    • Applicant must be 17 to 24 year old
For each category, these are the following fields of study and the duration of study:
  • Research (Research Student, Master's, and Doctoral Course
    • Fields of Study: Social Sciences, Humanities, and Natural Sciences
      • (NOTE:Applicants should apply for the field of study they majored in at university or its related field)
    • Years: 2 to 5 years
  • Undergraduate
    • Fields of Study: Social Sciences, Humanities, and Natural Sciences
    • Years: 2 to 5 years
  • Specialized Training College
    • Fields of Study: Technology, Personal Care and Nutrition, Education and Welfare, Business, Fashion and Home Economics, Culture and General Education
    • Years: 3 years
  • College of Technology
    • Fields of Study: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Information Communication and Network Engineering, Materials Engineering, Architecture and Civil Engineering, Maritime Engineering 
    • Years: 4 to 4.5 years

The deadline for submitting applications is on May 18, 2018.  ONLY hard copies printed on A4-size paper and mailed through courier or hand-delivered to the Embassy will be accepted.

The JICC also offers free scholarship consultations every Friday (except holidays). from 9:00 AM to 12:00 NN and from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM. Applicants should come early as it is a FIRST COME, FIRST SERVE, basis. Applicants should also present a valid ID at the gate.
