CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: 19th ASEAN-Korea Future-Oriented Exchange Programme – ASEAN Youth Square

The National Council of Youth Organizations in Korea, supported by the ASEAN-ROK Cooperation Fund, and in partnership with the National Youth Commission, is implementing the 19th ASEAN-Korea Future-Oriented Exchange Programme – ASEAN Youth Square, which aims to further deepen mutual understanding among the youth of ASEAN and Korea.
With the theme “2017, Year of ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange with Youth!”, this year’s program will be based on construction of Asian multi-culturalismand mutual cooperation between Korea youth and ASEAN nations through celebrating themeaningful year with ASEAN-Korea youth. 2017 is the 50th anniversary of ASEAN and theYear of ASEAN-Korea Cultural Exchange.
Activities will include winter sports, excursion at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics site, exchange with local youth, and Korean Traditional Culture experience.
The program is scheduled on January 11-17, 2018 in Seoul and Gangwon-do, Korea. NYC will benominating6 Filipino participants.
Qualifications of Delegates:
- Filipino citizen, single,18-26 years old
- Philippine passport holders (valid until July 18, 2018)
- Mentally and physical fit to travel
- Currently-enrolled college or MA students with educational background in Korean studies
- Working youth with background in cultural work (cultural heritage)
- Can communicate in English
- Be able to attend the pre-departure briefing on January 10, 2018 at the NYC head office and the program proper on January 11-17, 2018.
Requirements:
- Accomplished NYC Application Form
- An essay (not less than 500 words) about the applicant’s educational background and how being part of the program will help his/her studies or chosen career path
- Copy of Certification from Dean or College Secretary that the applicant is a bonafide student
- Employment Certificate (for working youth)
- Copy of valid passport
Expenses:
- Delegates will shoulder their travel expenses from their residence(province) to NAIA and back as well as their accommodation in Manila during the pre-departure briefing.
- Delegates will pay for their travel tax (Php 1,620.00) at NAIA.
- The organizer will shoulder the delegates’ international airfare (Manila-Seoul-Manila)as well as their food, accommodation and local transportation in Korea.
The following are automatically disqualified:
- Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from October 24, 2012 – present whose airfare, meals, and accommodation were paid by the organizer; and
- Participants of NYC-coordinated international programs from October 24, 2015 – present whose airfare was shouldered by the participants and whose accommodation and meals were paid by the organizer.
- Previous NYC International Programs Beneficiaries who have not submitted or accomplished therequired post-program documents or volunteer work.
