NATIONAL YOUTH COMMISSION TELLS SK VOTERS TO EVALUATE THEIR CANDIDATES BEFORE VOTING

APRIL 25, 2018 - The National Youth Commission reminds the youth voters to check the background, know the track record and listen tot he campaign platforms of the candidates for the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections.

Asec. Ronald Cardema, OIC Chairman of the National Youth Commission, said that the National Youth Commission is looking forward to appointing leaders who are committed, dedicated, and passionate to serve the youth - especially since there has been a vacuum in youth governance due to the delay of the SK Elections for several years.

The National Youth Commission's reminders to youth voters

Asec. Cardema also emphasized that  with the passage of the SK reform Act of 2015 or R.A. 10742, the elected youth leaders will have to undergo mandatory training to develop and strengthen their leadership. This training will also imbue a strong sense of nationalism, discipline, and preparedness in times of calamities and disasters within them.

The National Youth Commission would also like to note that voters who are 15 to 17 years old are only required to fill up one ballot for the SK elections but those who are 18 to 30 years old will be required to accomplish two: (1) one ballot in black ink for the Barangay elections; and (2) one ballot in red ink for the SK elections.
